What a Long Sabbatical!

Hello friends, foes (you know who you are), and fans:

Upon outcry from the masses -- and by masses I mostly mean Avery Gardener and Cate Moore -- the blog has returned! Since I barely believe in embarrassment, I will divulge that I cowardly took down the site after its groundbreaking 7.5-hour life cycle. The reason? I realized it was on the internet! For everyone in the world to see! Prime stalking material for my exes! But then, I remembered, talking to this pink void is quite fun and a way to express myself; even more so, though, after hearing from my friends how much they value my email newsletter, I wanted to keep the dream alive. One would THINK they would just RESPOND TO MY NEWSLETTER, but NO. Apparently everyone "reads them religiously..." but everyone must have skipped shul because nobody responds with such pious.

In other news, since landing in the motherland (Canada) and spending time at home in the fatherland ('Murica), I've had a blast. In my week at home, I spent three of the days individually with the three other members of my family. My Mom & I drove up to the summit of Whiteface Mtn and enjoyed a cloudy view and nice lunch. My Dad & I had a full day in Vermont! Melanie & I drove down to Albany and had an honestly mediocre shopping experience at Crossgates (but her company is always the best!). Other highlights include visiting Camp to watch a bat house be destroyed, going out at our beloved Willsboro establishment, and picking up my friend Wyatt from the airport!

I've been in Washington, D.C. (buh buh buh buh buh buh [read that like a trumpet]) for about half a week now, and boy oh boy is it fabulous! It is also very hot, though. Temperature levels only before seen in circumstances such as: me wearing calf boots. The days have passed wonderfully, though, since starting my job at the NCRC Preschool's summer program. I'm an assistant in the Blue Dragonfly classroom and we have ten AMAZING four-year-olds! No exaggeration on the positive adjective, either -- they are truly very well behaved, smart, and FREAKING ADORABLE. I feel like I get paid to hang out with them all day! The giggles are worth every penny and more. It makes me so fulfilled and excited knowing I've chosen to spend the rest of my life doing something where I can spark joy and receive just as much of it in return.

In my more adult world, I CAN FINALLY WALK EVERYWHERE again!!!!! HIP HIP FUCKING HOORAY X 7 BILLION!!!!! I've been stomping to and from work every day, among other places. For my living sitch, I'm subletting a room in Columbia Heights from a pleasant woman named Anne, who is a Stanford alum, educator, and artist. The house is filled with art and has lots of charm. My room is teeny, but I don't mind; nobody puts baby in a corner, except in this case I am baby and very much in the corner. Outside of the room, I've hung out with my Camp friend Avery and some Stanford pals that have made for a couple of fun nights out.

IF YOU'RE READING THIS PLEASE TEXT ME FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD, BAD, AND UGLY (had to look up the definition of that last word...?).

Triumphantly returned,

WLH

P.S. If you're curious: the cover photos for the blog posts are just selfies I take at the time. Woop.
